Whether you're marking the shortest or longest day of the year, join us on Saturday, June 22nd, 2024 for SEIZE THE LIGHT, VanSPC's 12-hour street photography fundraiser for the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre in Vancouver, Canada. How It Works: Each participant sets their 12-hour window for June 22 between 12:00AM and 11:59PM in their own time zone. There is no obligation to complete all 12 hours, and any participation is encouraged. The posting procedure is modelled after 24 Hour Project: Each photographer posts 1 street photo per hour, taken during that hour, to their Instagram account using the template below.<div><div><img </div> On Donating: Our goal for this year’s event is to raise $2500 for the Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, a non-profit shelter providing basic needs and support programs for women and children living in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. We are therefore requiring a minimum $5 donation to take part.  VanSPC will match members' donations up to $150 total and our printing partner, Rocket Reprographics, will contribute five prints selected from event photos.  Your minimum $5 donation for entry is the cost of one safe shower with a clean towel and toiletries. We appreciate all donations, whether you’re photographing or not. Event Guidelines from the DEWC: 1) Please do not take or post photos of vulnerable people without their permission. Any photos of people in a vulnerable position will not be reposted by VanSPC.   2) If participating in Vancouver, please do not take or post photos of people in the Downtown Eastside. 3) Be aware that people can be identified by clothing or tattoos even if their face is not shown.
