Donation to Transcona Museum

Your generous donation will be used to support one of the selected projects.  Your support will also ensure that the museum will continue to collect, preserve and share the stories of Transcona through learning and discovery.

Note: Starting 1 January 2021, 10% of all donations received for the CN 2747 will be placed in our endowment fund for future maintenance and upkeep of the CN 2747 structure and historic locomotive.

These areas of museum activity need your support:

Collections & Conservation: donations will be used to help maintain our archives and artifact collections.  This includes digitization projects, re-housing of materials, and procurement of archival and conservation supplies.  All of which will enable the museum to continue to care for our diverse collection.

Exhibit Planning & Production: your donation will go towards the planning and production of new exhibitions at the museum.  The Transcona Museum typically changes our main exhibition every year, has three offsite display case locations that are changed quarterly and the Remembrance Exhibition displayed in Centre Court at Kildonan Place during Remembrance Week.  A new exhibition is produced every 4-5 years.

CN 2747 Preservation: The museum's largest and heaviest artifact needs your support.  We have done welding repairs, blast cleaning, repainting, replacement of wooden elements, constructed replica elements and built a protective enclosure over the engine, but there is still more to do.  Help us to continue our preservation work on the engine and its long-term care. 10% of all donations received to this area are placed in our endowment fund for the future maintenance and upkeep of the CN2747 structure and locomotive

Programming: Donations are used to create, run, and distribute programs for children, teens, adults, seniors and families for low cost or free.  Programs include virtual and in-house activities, KidsQuest, TransconaQuest Drop-Ins, Walking Tours Small Talks, and Manitoba Curriculum-connected programs.

Development Fund:  Donations go toward the future development of the museum such as funding for future expansion and other museum initiatives.  It will also be used to ensure that the Museum collections will continue to enhance our community’s history so that all generations will benefit.

General Fund: Donations made to the General Fund are used throughout the museum in areas of current need as determined by the Board of Directors.
