On Saturday evening, September 30, 2023, Michael "Soy" Taylor and his wife of sixteen years, Deidra, were sitting on a couch on their side porch watching a football game.  Three armed men approached them demanding money.  Soy & Deidra stood up and Soy grabbed a stand and headed toward the would be robbers while Deidra rushed inside to secure their three daughters ages 11, 10 & 9.  The would be robbers fled but not before one of them fired a shot from a pistol that hit Soy in the stomach area and would eventually prove to be fatal.   Soy was rushed to a local hospital and underwent about four hours of surgery.  He seemed to be stabilizing and looked to be on the road to recovery.  However, on Monday, 10/2, while undergoing another surgical procedure his lungs collapsed and doctors could not sustain his life.  Soy entered Heaven!   So, this account has been established as many folks have asked to be able to help Deidra and the girls.  Please note that every cent given will go to this family.  These donations will help cover medical costs, the cost of getting Soy's body back to Alabama, four airfares to get Deidra and the girls to the States for the celebration of life service, the cost of the funeral home, opening and closing the grave, a vault and other items.  Any excess will simply go toward helping Soy's family live day by day. No gift is too small or large and each one will be greatly appreciated.  To know Soy was to love Soy and I pray that folks will display great love on Soy's surviving family through this donor site.
