In collaboration with local-partners, we distributed 37,000 books to 100 pastors. The trip was the culmination of hours of discussion and planning along with an army of volunteers. <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;box-sizing:inherit">While in Togo, our team took the time to meet various ministries serving on the ground in Togo. The event was hosted at the Baptist Seminary of Togo. We had lots of time to interact with the staff and learn about the challenges and opportunities they are facing with training the next generation of Pastors and Leaders for Togo. Many of the meetings and discussions took place in the library (since it was air conditioned). When we heard this, we understood why many of our new books were not in the library, there simply is not enough money to purchase them. <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;box-sizing:inherit">In Togo, the average pastor earns $150 CAD per month. Our team was energised as we answered questions that the students had for us. We could feel the zeal and excitement to serve Jésus through shepherding his sheep. When I asked where the library was, I was told there was not one.  <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;box-sizing:inherit">Finally, on Sunday, each of us went to a different Church to Preach the Sunday morning message. At each of the churches they had dynamic children’s sunday school with many children in attendance. We were moved to see the passion of the teachers and the hunger of the kids to learn about Jesus. In looking over the materials they were using I noticed an image from the Gospel Project curriculum. Nous avons pris beaucoup de temps pour échanger avec les membres du personnel de cette école au sujet des défis et des encouragements liés à la formation de la prochaine génération de pasteurs et de responsables au Togo. Plusieurs de ces rencontres et discussions ont eu lieu à la bibliothèque (l’endroit le plus confortable de l’école grâce à l’air conditionné). Le bibliothécaire, Lavenir Akplogan, a pris le temps de nous montrer fièrement les livres qu’ils ont rassemblés durant toutes ces années. Les ouvrages de la bibliothèque de l’école sont source de fierté pour Lavenir, qui les a minutieusement catalogués et qui s’assure de leur disponibilité pour la prochaine génération d’étudiants. <span style="font-size:11pt;font-family:Arial;color:rgb(0, 0, 0);background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap;box-sizing:inherit">Lors de nos discussions, il nous a indiqué que le budget annuel pour l’achat de nouveaux ouvrages pour la bibliothèque s’élevait à 100 000 CFA (à peu près 145 euros). En feuilletant le matériel pédagogique qui était utilisé, j’ai remarqué une image du Gospel Project (Le Projet Évangile), un programme d’enseignement pour enfants.
