<h4>AN AMERICAN EDUCATION is a short documentary film, directed by current West Charlotte student Thai Bonapart, mentored by the Oscar-winning filmmaker, Marshall Curry. The producers are WC alumni Jay Ferguson ('88), Anthony Foxx ('89), Elizabeth Davis ('89), and Elizabeth Martin ('89).</h4>The film will be aired nationwide on <a href="https://www.pbs.org/show/films-bykids/" target="_blank">PBS</a> through the award-winning series <a href="https://bykids.org/" target="_blank">Films BYkids</a>, reaching more than 83 million households. It will be distributed internationally in schools with an accompanying curriculum guide and will be submitted to film festivals around the world. We have already raised everything we need to finish filming, which will be completed at the end of this school year (2023-2024). Currently we are seeking $50,000 in funding to complete the editing phase of our budget and another $30,000 for post-production (music/sound/color, etc). Your donations will support the completion of this film. Current funders include: Sandra Conway, Ed and Anna McMahan, Carrie Culp Abramson (c/o '88), and Foundation for the Carolinas.
