Indigenous Rising is currently composed of skaters from more than 25 distinct sovereign nation states. These Indigenous nations our peoples now occupy are vastly reshaped after centuries of forced removal and relocation. We are all skating on stolen Indigenous land. We formed this team to unite in our shared experiences as Indigenous peoples and roller derby players in a landscape where we are often forgotten. We use our platform to show other athletes and community members what is possible for Indigenous sports across tribes, borders and nations.
