People love to travel - but many turn a blind eye to the fact that future generations depend on our current decisions. In the documentary "Green Northern Lights," the viewer accompanies airplane pilot Jona and his 6-year-old niece Luna on their journey to the northern lights. Jona stands for our consumer-driven society, while Luna is a symbol of immaculate youth, of our future.
The adventure raises fundamental questions. What does travel mean anyway? What can we do to ensure that the world will still be worth seeing in the future?
Supplemented by discussions with representatives of sustainable projects, as well as opinions from experts, the documentary creates an accessible view of the challenges of tomorrow.
Our goal is to show that travelling sustainably is attractive and possible. We care a lot for the environment and the impact travelling has on our planet is disastrous. However, we know how much people love to travel - ourselves included. We want to see the world, meet new people and cultures, explore foreign nature. The thing is - all of that won't be possible if we continue to act as we do right now.
Our generation stands for change. It stands for the future. Therefore, we are also responsible for the planet's future. Let's make green travelling more accessible, more attractive and more fun!
