REECH's goal is to positively reduce the number of foster TAYAs (Teens and Young Adults) who are aging out of foster care with no family and no place to call home. This year, REECH will establish 3 care homes, one for girls and two for boys in the Dallas, TX area. Did you know that the United States has about 23,000 and the Dallas/Fort Worth area has approximately 3,000 TAYAs who age out annually?!!This crisis is especially targeting Black TAYAs who are disproportionately represented in foster care across the United States. REECH is partnering with 2 other nonprofit organizations to provide mentoring, life skills training, monthly "Talking About Real Life" open discussions with area leaders/experts, and events that are designed to improve the trajectory of their lives. The other organizations are Mt. Horeb Baptist Church and Taste of the South (CityMenCook). REECH honors and celebrates these resilient TAYAs since they have survived such an inauspicious beginning in life.
