Hurricane Recovery Support for Our Potters

Gertrude Graham Smith kiln shed after the floodIt was a great disappointment to cancel our 2024 show. Like much of WNC, Hurricane Helene devastated our two counties. The show always feels like a family reunion of our makers and supporters, and we will miss gathering together this year.

All our potters are accounted for and safe, but most of us are still living without power and water. Within our group, we have varying degrees of damage to property and the ability to continue making pots for the near future. We all have a long way to go to recover both our personal properties and that of our surrounding community.

Our fundraiser is hoping to achieve two goals: 1. to reimburse the cost members have already spent to host the now-canceled show ($12,000), and 2.  Any funds that are raised beyond this will be distributed equally between this year’s 30 participating exhibitors to contribute to daily expenses during hurricane recovery.

In our two counties, neighbors are helping neighbors to recover from hurricane Helene. A sincere thanks for any assistance you can provide. We look forward to regathering our “family” of makers and clay enthusiasts in October 2025.
