A Shedding Chance Reptile Rescue Inc. is proud to be the only reptile rescue in the state of Connecticut, and right now, we need your help to continue our vital work. The demand for reptile rescue services has never been higher, especially as we are facing an overwhelming turtle epidemic in our state. Abandoned, released, and neglected turtles are being found in alarming numbers, and without a dedicated space to care for them, many of these animals are at risk.

To meet this growing need, we are raising $7,000 to help support our rescue efforts and expand our capacity. Here’s how your donation will directly benefit the reptiles in our care:

1. Paying Off Medical Debt ($2,048): Like any rescue organization, we face significant medical expenses. Many of the reptiles we rescue require urgent and specialized care, including surgeries, rehabilitation, and long-term treatment. Your donation will help us pay off medical debt, ensuring that we can continue providing life-saving care to the animals who need it most.

2. Building an Emergency Fund ($1,000): Rescues can be unpredictable, and we need to be ready for anything—from critical medical situations to surprise rescues. An emergency fund will allow us to respond quickly to urgent situations and ensure we always have the resources to provide immediate care.

3. Expanding Our Facility ($1,000): The need for more space is urgent. Our current facility is running out of room to house the growing number of reptiles and turtles we rescue. We are seeking a larger, dedicated facility to properly house, rehabilitate, and care for these animals. A portion of the funds will go toward securing and improving this new space so we can continue our mission and expand our impact.

4. Building a Pond for Abandoned Turtles ($2,000): Connecticut is currently facing a turtle epidemic, with more turtles being abandoned and neglected every year. We are committed to providing a safe haven for these animals, but we currently lack the proper space to accommodate them. Part of the funds will go toward building a custom pond habitat, giving abandoned turtles a safe and natural environment to thrive while they receive the care they need.
