Your generous support will assist in funding staff who work tirelessly on various programs and events, some including: Monthly Meetings: Our monthly meetings occur on the second Tuesday of each month. They consist of a monthly immigration update by an immigration attorney, resource and programming share from a non-profit partner, and is concluded with networking and resource sharing. These meetings welcome around 60-75 people each month and offer ways to better serve our immigrant community. Our monthly meetings bring together a diverse audience of immigrant service providers including teachers, federal workers, attorneys, congressmen, local non-profit leaders, and community members.  "Walk in a Refugee's Shoes" Event: Walk in a Refugee’s Shoes (WRS) is an immersive experience that offers an opportunity to step into the shoes of displaced individuals who have had to leave their homes and seek refuge in a new land. This powerful experience sheds light on the challenges refugees face during the vetting and resettlement process while highlighting their resilience, hopes, and hardships. While we may never fully grasp their journey, WRS is a vital step toward fostering empathy, awareness, and a more welcoming and compassionate community. Be in the Know Seminar Series: The Be in the Know Seminar Series educates on diverse key issues impacting immigrants. The series was launched on September 5, 2024 with the Be in the Know: Employment, Immigration, and the law seminar. It was presented by COIN and the U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division.  An Afternoon with our Refugee Neighbors:An Afternoon With Our Immigrant Neighbors is an opportunity for the Indianapolis community to learn more from a panel of our neighbors who were once resettled as refugees from countries all over the world to the U.S., where they now call Indianapolis home.This is an intimate time to hear stories, exchange questions, and prepare hearts for the experience of the Walk in a Refugee's Shoes event itself.   Naturalization Workshops: Through partnerships with other non-profits, attorneys, and volunteers, we are able to collaborate on Naturalization Workshops. These workshops assist eligible immigrants in Central Indiana through the complex process of becoming U.S. citizens. Ask-a-Lawyer Events: Through partnerships with other non-profits, attorneys, and volunteers, we are able to collaborate on immigration Ask-a-Lawyer events which provide vital guidance and support to immigrants navigating the legal aspects of their immigration status. PartnershipsWe are grateful to our partners for their incredible work in supporting immigrants. Our goal is to highlight the organizations making a positive impact and foster greater collaboration to reduce silos across Central Indiana, ultimately working to make Indiana more welcoming for our neighbors.
