As we walk, we will explore the history of the Mellon family and their enduring influence on the land. Moving across the countryside of Oak Spring and Rokeby, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the landscape through the interconnected perspectives of history and contemporary ecology. What to Expect This program is designed for anyone interested in reading the landscape more deeply; no prior background in ecology is required. Participants should be prepared for several hours of moderate walking&mdash;approximately four miles&mdash;across hilly fields and uneven terrain. Please wear appropriate footwear, bring sufficient water, and dress for the weather, rain or shine. Binoculars and digital cameras are encouraged. This event will take place on the Little Oak Spring portion of OSGF but it will not include a tour of the formal garden or main residence.
