The Teranga Conference Youth Intensive will take place on Friday, June 12, 2026, at Gibney Studios in Downtown Manhattan.&nbsp; Presented as part of the Kofago Institute&rsquo;s Teranga Conference 2026, this special youth-centered day is designed to welcome young dancers, students, and emerging artists into a powerful space of movement, culture, mentorship, and community. Rooted in the conference theme, &ldquo;Guardians of Culture: Building Sanctuary through Art and Education,&rdquo; the Youth Intensive will introduce participants to African Diasporic dance traditions through classes, cultural exchange, and intergenerational learning. Students will have the opportunity to train with experienced teaching artists, engage with movement practices connected to the African Diaspora, and deepen their understanding of dance as a form of cultural preservation, storytelling, and community connection. This intensive is more than a day of dance classes. It is an invitation for young people to see themselves as future culture bearers, artists, leaders, and storytellers. Through movement, rhythm, history, and shared learning, participants will be encouraged to explore how dance can build confidence, strengthen identity, and create meaningful connections across communities. The Teranga Conference Youth Intensive reflects the Kofago Institute&rsquo;s commitment to youth access, arts education, cultural preservation, and the development of the next generation of African Diasporic artists and cultural leaders.
