A crowd of people sits in an audience in the background, while a white logo and the text "Science-based clarity on AI" appear in the foreground.

AI is changing our world faster than any of us can keep up. That's true for everyone: the people building AI, using it and governing it, and all of us whose work, relationships and lives it is reshaping. There is a growing gap between what AI can do and our ability to make sense of it, respond to it and, where we can, steer it. That gap leaves people exposed to risks they didn't choose and missing out on benefits they could have had. Gradient Institute works towards closing that gap. We are an independent Australian charity bringing scientific rigour and care to the challenge of safe and responsible AI. We:

Build and share knowledge: research on AI capabilities, impacts, risks and controls, made accessible to decision-makers and the public. We also host conversations that bring diverse voices into the debate about AI, and convene the community working on AI safety.

Put it into practice: independent assessment, advice, education and practical guidance for organisations and governing bodies that develop, deploy and oversee AI.

Act for systems change: engaging with governments, regulators and standards bodies, and advocating for structures that make safe and responsible AI the default.

Why your gift matters now. Much of what is said about AI comes from those with a stake in how it is built and sold. Independent, scientific voices are harder to come by, and they matter most while the rules and practices that will shape AI are still being formed. Donations let us choose the questions we ask, follow the evidence and say what we find, answering only to our mission. Our vision: an AI transformation that is safe and beneficial for everyone. Your gift helps make it possible.
