Fundraising Funds: All proceeds from the Marion Bay Caravan Park Online Fundraising Auction will be donated to the Marion Bay Country Fire Service and managed in accordance with applicable CFS financial requirements and approvals. Funds will be used to support approved Marion Bay CFS brigade equipment, resources, training, volunteer activities and other brigade needs. Why Has the Fundraiser Changed? You may have noticed that our upcoming fundraising auction has changed from specifically raising funds for the proposed Marion Bay emergency helicopter landing facility to a general fundraiser supporting the Marion Bay CFS Brigade. We wanted to provide our community with a clear explanation about why this change has been necessary.Following correspondence and discussions with CFS Regional Management, we have been advised that because the proposed helipad is currently considered a community infrastructure concept and is not an approved CFS project, CFS is unable to fundraise for the project or hold funds for the project through the Brigade's Local Funds account. To ensure we fully comply with CFS requirements, Marion Bay Caravan Park will now host the online auction as a general fundraising event, with all proceeds donated to the Marion Bay CFS for approved Brigade purposes and needs.Importantly, this does not mean that the community's goal of establishing improved emergency helicopter access in Marion Bay has stopped. As individual community members and volunteers, we remain committed to progressing the concept of a dedicated emergency helicopter landing facility for Marion Bay, including appropriate lighting and a windsock. The helipad initiative will now be progressed completely separately from the CFS and outside of the CFS fundraising structure.Moving forward, we intend to work directly with Yorke Peninsula Council, relevant State Government agencies, emergency service stakeholders and other appropriate authorities to investigate the requirements for establishing such a facility. This will include identifying a suitable location, investigating the potential use or repurposing of appropriate Council-owned land, undertaking the necessary planning and design work, obtaining relevant approvals and applying for suitable government and community infrastructure grants. There is still considerable work ahead, and no final location or design has been determined. However, we remain committed to exploring every appropriate avenue available to progress this community-identified need.We sincerely appreciate the enormous amount of support already shown by local businesses, residents and visitors. The goal of improving emergency helicopter access for Marion Bay hasn't changed — only the pathway we need to take to work towards it has. 🚁❤️Thank you for continuing to support our community and our local emergency service volunteers.Marion Bay Caravan Park & Community Volunteers
