At Fierté Fredericton Pride, we recognize that the 2SLGBTQ+ community needs to come together year-round to support each other and address the growing oppression we face from bigots and extremists. As governments are bombarded with misinformation campaigns, we know it is vital that our political representatives are well-informed about the reality of our community's culture and artistry. That is why we are organizing the Fredericton 2SLGBTQ+ Winter Ball! This event will provide an evening of entertainment and community-building outside of the traditional Pride Summer Festival, where 2SLGBTQ+ individuals can dance, socialize, and enjoy performances by some amazing local drag performers. Through this process they will learn what drag truly is: exploring conceptions of gender by examining what it means to be masculine, feminine, androgynous, or none of the above. Armed with this knowledge, these political representatives will be more able to respond to allegations against drag performers and the 2SLGBTQ+ community as a whole. Drag is art, not a threat!
