Adrian Wortley, a longtime board member and dear friend of the Manitoba Marathon, was deeply passionate about helping young people discover running&mdash;especially those from underserved communities. Through our Champions in Training program, students from across Manitoba have the opportunity to participate in race weekend and experience the excitement of lining up alongside 10,000 runners as they work toward their own goal.&nbsp; For many of these students, however, the cost of participation can be a significant barrier. Travel and transportation expenses can make it difficult for youth from northern Manitoba communities to attend, while registration and related costs can be prohibitive for inner-city schools. Funds raised in Adrian&rsquo;s memory will honour his legacy by helping to remove these barriers&mdash;ensuring more young people have the chance to reach the start line, feel a sense of belonging, and experience the joy of running.
