In Canada and globally, migrant sex workers continue to face intensified policing, surveillance, deportations, and workplace raids carried out in the name of “anti-trafficking.” These so-called “rescue” efforts have made conditions more dangerous for the very people they claim to protect. Here in Ontario and across cities in Canada, Asian-owned massage businesses and workers continue to be targeted by a carceral web of municipal licensing enforcement, law enforcement raids, and Ministry of Labour investigations. These interventions do not offer protection — they reinforce racial profiling, fear, and state control.
