Pool Brats is designed to help individuals diagnosed with a primary brain tumour, stroke or traumatic brain injury become more comfortable on their feet by supporting progress towards mobility goals.  We are run by volunteer Physiotherapists, Recreation Therapists, Occupational Therapists, physiotherapy students and other proud volunteers to help you and your care partner have a supportive environment both in and out of the pool. We offer elective credit to students enrolled in the Master of Physiotherapy Program at the University of Alberta.  Research and experience consistently show that people with brain tumours and stroke can have difficulties accessing rehabilitation services to maintain active lifestyles. It is tough to find rehab if the participant requires a two-person assist to practice walking.  This community naturally extends to the caregivers, and we offer a welcoming second space to connect. This is a difficult journey, where experienced caregivers may be able to provide tips and resources. This will not be a formal peer support program but rather just a pot of coffee and an opportunity to connect.  Please donate to make a splash for Pool Brats to keep us in the pool.
