Jerry Jiang for Mayor of WaterlooHi everyone! I’m Jerry Jiang, and I’m running for Mayor of Waterloo this fall. (Election Day is Oct 26!) Waterloo creates extraordinary people and companies. We should build an extraordinary city around them. Waterloo should be the most prosperous, exciting, and consequential small cities in the world. We already produce world-class engineers, researchers and entrepreneurs. But too often, the companies grow somewhere else, the talent leaves, and the city itself captures too little of the prosperity it invested to create here. I’m running for Mayor to change that. I want to bring more companies, investment and high-paying jobs to Waterloo, and use that growth to build a city people can actually feel getting better. What does that mean? A city that celebrates its own stories and success. Col. Each a legend in their fields, yet unknown at home. A world-class deep-tech and robotics district that brings together founders, researchers, capital and Southern Ontario manufacturing - creating companies and jobs here instead of watching our best talent leave. A much more vibrant ION corridor with more housing, shops, restaurants, public spaces and things to do - turning the infrastructure we already built into genuinely great urban neighbourhoods. Faster, simpler City Hall for housing, businesses and people trying to build things - with modernized digital services and much less unnecessary friction. More beautiful and ambitious public spaces We need art, culture, community, experimentation, and events that make Waterloo somewhere people want to visit, not just somewhere they happen to work or study. When guests come to town, they should want have places to go and things to see. A city that shares in its own success. I want Waterloo to explore new economic tools that can grow our tax base and attract investment so that improving services doesn’t simply mean asking residents to pay more property tax every year. If this resonates with you, I would appreciate a donation to my campaign! Every dollar counts, and I deeply appreciate you for reading about my dreams.
