Great Lake Cleaners is an entirely volunteer-run non-profit in Guelph. We’re in the river every week, removing large plastic debris before it breaks down into microplastics and travels into the Great Lakes. Friends keep us going: your help goes directly toward gear, insurance and waste drop-offs. Give any amount. Every bit helps. We’ll list you as a Friend of the Speed River on our website, with a link if you’d like one. Give $50 or more and you’ll get an art box of some of the more colourful finds from our watershed. Sponsor a stretch, from $250 a year. We currently cover 12 one-kilometre stretches of the Speed, and each takes a single sponsor. Your name, or your business’s, goes on your stretch, and every cleanup there is logged so you can see what came out of the water you helped clear. See which stretches are available.
