The Vision: Back to the LandKurudi Mashambani&mdash;meaning &quot;Back to the Land&quot; in Swahili&mdash;is a community-led initiative, led by the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights (JHC), Partners for Humanity Council, and Somali Arts &amp; Cultural Association of Canada (SACAC), alongside several community partners. Our goal is creating land access for newcomer and refugee farming families while revitalizing rural communities and advancing food sovereignty in Alberta. We believe that access to food, land, and livelihood is a human right. This summer, newcomer farmers will begin cultivating the soil in Westlock.
