In 2014, at the age of 65, our father André completed his very first marathon in life, the one in Ottawa. It was an extraordinary achievement for someone his age, with so little experience in running; needless to say, he made his three sons very proud. It was with the same determination and zest for life that dad fought against pancreatic cancer, which unfortunately took him on January 1st. A few days prior, we gave him his last Christmas gift by announcing that the three of us would run the Ottawa Marathon 2026 in his honor. André’s final days were bathed in a gentle and warm light, provided by the services of the palliative care organization Aux trois sentiers. Thanks to the wonderful team of caregivers, nurses, doctors, and coordinators, we were able to spend the holiday season with our father in the comfort of our home, where everything was set up to allow dad and our family to experience these moments in the greatest serenity. Sharing these last moments at home is a privilege we never thought possible: Aux trois sentiers has been an immeasurable support during this transition, both for dad and for us. It is for all these reasons that we invite you to contribute to this fundraising campaign for Aux trois sentiers, as we prepare to participate in the Ottawa marathon next month. We will proudly run in the name of this cause that is dear to our hearts, carrying the memory of our dad and his insatiable thirst for achievement. Paul, Bruno, and François Provencher

Ottawa like dad – marathon in support of Aux trois sentiers
