Pinoy Pride Vancouver Society Reaffirms Pride&rsquo;s History and Amplifies the Call for Rights, Livelihood and Freedom this Pride Parade This year, Pinoy Pride Vancouver Society (PPVS), together with our allies and broader community, invites all queer Filipinos and allies to celebrate Pride Month under the theme: &ldquo;AWRA para sa Karapatan, Kabuhayan at Kalayaan!&rdquo; (Pride for Rights, Livelihood, and Freedom). Since our founding in 2010, PPVS has worked to strengthen visibility, belonging, equity, and acceptance for Filipino-Canadian 2SLGBTQI+ communities in British Columbia. As we mark our 16th anniversary, we renew our commitment to being unapologetically queer. Pride is both a celebration and a call to action. We honour the generations of activists whose courage secured many of the rights we enjoy today, while recognizing that many members of our community&mdash;particularly migrants, refugees, temporary foreign workers, caregivers, undocumented people, and trans communities&mdash;continue to experience discrimination, economic insecurity, and systemic barriers. Last year, PPVS was deeply honoured to serve as Grand Marshal of the Vancouver Pride Parade. That recognition affirmed our growing role in advancing equity while reminding us that much work remains. Pride must continue to amplify those whose voices are too often absent from public policy. The Filipino-Canadian queer community has demonstrated resilience, leadership, and solidarity for more than sixteen years. Yet many continue to face barriers shaped not only by sexual orientation and gender identity, but also by migration status, race, employment precarity, and transnational family responsibilities. Despite our frontline roles, Filipino queer migrants benefit only indirectly as secondary recipients of general 2SLGBTQI+ measures.&nbsp; Your contributions will support the Filipino LGBTQ+ Community&#39;s participation at this year&#39;s Vancouver Pride Parade. Participants and community members in the crowd have shared how visibility at the Pride Parade have left a profound and meaningful impact on what it means to be queer, Filipino, and proud.
