Puyuk Runa Foundation is a non-profit society for the facilitation of Indigenous transformational education to bring a balance between humans and nature for the purposes of restoration, conservation and protection of all life forms. The goal is to develop a critical collective consciousness towards life and foster land-human relations that result in regenerative development - an Indigenous development that provides returns to all life forms not only for 5 or 25 years; but for 1,600 years. We focus on strengthening ecosystems, culture, and economic capacity within the Indigenous world. We’re partnering with an Indigenous family in Sucumbios, Northern Amazonia, Ecuador who are reoccupying their ancestral lands to defend from further extraction and destruction. Based on the Agorico River, this family has recovered some of their ancestral lands, and built a traditional home to stop further petroleum extraction. In 1967 multinational corporations began decimating the ecosystem & Indigenous lifeways to extract petroleum and gold. This has led to severe environmental degradation including contamination of the river, gas flaring, and unresolved legal and social conflicts with local Indigenous nations. Today, children are made sick by drinking polluted river water and contaminated rain water. Amarun Kucha is raising $10,000 USD to build a well & water filtration system that will serve the under-construction Women’s Center for Traditional Arts. In 2024, they received $30,000 USD to develop the facility, and in 2025 raised $5,000 built a road. Their vision is to develop the economic capacity of women in the region by providing education, access to markets, and ecocultural-tourism centered around the arts: music, beading, pottery, and more. Puyuk Runa foundation is proud to partner with Amarun Kucha, an Indigenous woman-led project to protect clean water & promote sustainable futures for women in the north of the Ecuadorian Amazon.
