The funds raised will support women and children living in extreme poverty in Ethiopia. The difference our donations make in Ethiopia is absolutely profound.  Women who are too ill to work will receive medical and psychological treatment and training to start a small business allowing them to provide for themselves and their children.  Children living at and supported through Tesfa's Shelter will receive food, shelter, clothing, an education, medical care and most importantly a sense of family and love. We cannot change the world but when we respond to the needs in Ethiopia through participating in or donating to A Walk in Their Shoes, we can change the world for one person or a few women and children. Hearts for Ethiopia is a not-for-profit organization and is volunteer driven.  We do not have staff or an office and keep expenses to a minimum so your donations can be directed to where they are needed. For more information on the projects Hearts for Ethiopia funds, please visit our website at:  www.heartsforethiopia.com. What is a A Walk in Their Shoes? It is a fun event for all ages and there is no distance requirement. In fact, if a participant is unable to walk, there are other activities at the event that will keep them engaged and will honor their participation.  Videos, pictures and stories educate walkers about realities in Ethiopia and how the funds they have raised will make a big difference in the lives of women and children. The event will take place at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church in Woodstock. If the weather cooperates, the walk portion of the event will take place outside. If it is raining, the walk portion will be indoors.  Registration, kick-off, light refreshments, an Ethiopian Merkato (marketplace), a "Discover Ethiopia" contest, silent auction, Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony, education and the closing ceremony will take place inside the church's gymnasium.
