Why is it important to attend? Your attendance is important as at least 40 members must attend (to meet Quorum) or the meeting cannot occur. Not having an AGM due to a lack of Quorum can result in closure of the society as it is a legal requirement.&nbsp; If you are unable to attend, please consider delegating your vote to another member who will attend, so that we may reach our mandated quorum. If proxying to another member, please inform our Executive Director, Daria Skibington-Roffel, by June 7th, 2026, noting explicitly to whom your Member Institution assigns its vote for the AGM. (contact@albertadebate.com) Proxies may be directed, partially directed, or undirected. Please also ensure that this person is made aware that s/he may vote in your name.&nbsp; As a reminder, please note that votes for the AGM are one per member institution, no matter how many coaches engage in the ADSA&rsquo;s activities or how programs/levels that institution sponsors (Junior/Senior and/or Speech/Debate). For large institutions with multiple programs, it may be useful to decide ahead of time who will officially represent the organization at the AGM. Back to School Means Back To Speech and Debate! Whether you are just starting a new Speech or Debate Club at your school, or renewing your membership, now is the time to register for the upcoming season. Registration is now open for the 2025-2026 school year! All public and private schools in Alberta are welcome to join ADSA. If you are looking to start a speech or debate club at your school, please consider joining! Please complete our online school membership form. We offer resources, and support from other debate and speech coaches.&nbsp; Schools must renew their memberships annually by October 31. Please contact the Office for information. The fee is $200.00 as of the 2018 Annual General Meeting, voted upon by the Membership.
