About True Mountain Laurel: Born out of late-night harmonies, shared voice memos, and a long-standing friendship rooted in mutual admiration, Haley Blais and Sam Lynch have formed the supergroup True Mountain Laurel. Their debut collection of songs, Angel So Bad, is a tender, dust-swept exploration of all the feelings that fall through the cracks. Equal parts folk reverie and country yearning, the project pulls from their respective solo careers. Sam’s poetic introspection and Haley’s razor-sharp lyrical intimacy blend into something softer, stranger, and wholly their own. What began as casual writing sessions in between Sam and Haley’s respective tour cycles has slowly transformed into a collaborative ritual: trading lines and melodies over coffee and recording scrappy voice note demos at the end of the day. The songs emerged not from pressure or plan but from a desire to make music the way they first fell in love with it — no clocks, no ego, just two voices in a room. Influenced by artists like Gillian Welch, Lucinda Williams, and early 2000s Canadian singer-songwriters, the project is less about genre and more about feel. Acoustic guitars, brushed drums, pedal steel, and the occasional jangly piano support lyrics that feel diaristic without being confessional: capturing the ache of growing older, the strangeness of still wanting more, and the joy of finding home in another person’s voice. There’s a looseness to these songs that feels intentional. Where Sam’s solo work leans cinematic and atmospheric, and Haley’s leans into the clever and orchestral, here they meet in the middle: warm, minimal, and a little bit rough around the edges. Live, the project takes on an even more intimate form without setlists or rigid arrangements. Just two friends singing the truth as they feel it that night. Haley and Sam’s combined fan bases, critical momentum, and industry support make Angel So Bad a viable, marketable, and artistically rich body of work with strong touring and streaming potential across Canada and internationally. For Haley and Sam this is neither a rebrand nor a pivot. It’s a postcard from two artists returning to the campfire that first called them to sing. About Emma McGill and Theo Deiana: Based in Regina, Emma McGill and Theo Deiana are songwriters always looking to find the right words and sounds to score their experience living on the Canadian prairies. Since forming the indie folk / alternative country band Burrow alongside two other prairie locals, they have collaborated on an abundance of original songs and accumulated experience playing live shows in the city and at various festivals. Their music is often rooted in nostalgia, landscape, and what it means to keep growing.

He was the main contributor to the music for the Nashville TV show and subsequent live tours. Join us for The Long Table, an outdoor farm-to-table dinner in the heart of Cathedral, in support of the Artesian. For one night, we’re setting one long table for 75 people in the street outside the Artesian, with an elevated fall tablescape and warm lighting. Come dressed up (and dressed warm), bring your friends, and settle in for an evening of food, drinks and music shared around the table. This year, The Long Table is raising funds to upgrade the Artesian’s lighting equipment. Our current lighting console was manufactured in 1992, and the project will add new lighting for both the stage and floor — giving artists more possibilities across music, theatre, dance and other art forms. The City of Regina is contributing $10,000 toward the project, and we’re working to raise another $10,000 to make it happen. Join us for The Long Table and help us get closer to our goal. Slow LeavesDate: Thursday, September 24th, 2026Doors: 7:00PMShow: 8:00PMTickets: $25.00 + tax in advance online or in person at Paper Umbrella (2724 13th Avenue), or $30.00 at the door *Advance tickets close at 5:00 PM day-of-show. Additional tickets will be available at the door unless it is officially labelled SOLD OUT* The Artesian is wheelchair accessible, all-ages, and a proud supporter of positive spaces initiatives with a zero-tolerance policy towards hate, harassment, and/or discrimination. We reserve the right to remove any patron creating an unsafe environment. The accessible entrance is available via a lift, Please ask staff for help if necessary. About Slow Leaves: Slow Leaves is the project of Winnipeg’s Grant Davidson. He writes songs about the vulnerability of being a human, returning often to themes of love, loss, death, connection, loneliness, family, memory, and time. His folk and psych-rock inclinations, though rooted in the tradition of former fingerpicking songwriters, are unbound in today’s post-genre landscape. “I don’t write sad songs, I write lonely songs,” he muses regarding his last record, In Solitude, For Company. It’s within this honesty of expression that listeners have found comfort in knowing that none of us are truly alone in our thoughts, that beauty reveals itself in vulnerability, that poetry lives in the most banal of moments. He has been nominated for several Western Canadian Music Awards and won Songwriter of the Year in 2022. On his newest release and sixth Slow Leaves album of new material, The Ruins of Things Unfinished, Davidson explores his thoughts on ambition and the long setting sun of a life dedicated to art and family. “I’ve somehow made a career of self-perceived failure,” he writes. “I’ve often reflected on whether that mindset fulfills its own prophecy: quite possibly. But I think at heart, I’m not seeking greatness, at least not outside my own little world. Or maybe I’ve simply given up on misplaced ambitions. My ambition now is a life of greatness in small spaces, a private fame in close quarters, a life so intimate it need only whisper its declarations of love and victory.” The Ruins of Things Unfinished comes out in May 2026 on Birthday Cake Records and Make My Day in G/S/A and Benelux. About MJ Meehan: For many musicians, delving into the world of songwriting is an exercise in self-flagellation - this is certainly true of MJ Meehan. When one examines the self in an open and honest space, as is with song writing, it is often the case that what peers out is an expression of self not easily reconciled. Although MJ Meehan was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, it wasn’t until his time living in various small communities across BC that he undertook music as a form of self discovery. This desire for understanding has led MJ to pursue any instrument he can get his hands on, preferring to write and record alone in his home studio based in Regina, Saskatchewan. While MJ’s music may encompass a wide range of genres-from folk to fuzz-laden psychedelia, one can expect to hear the songwriters honest attempt at the examination of the self.

The Deep Dark WoodsDate: Friday, September 4th, 2026Doors: 7:00PMShow: 8:00PMTickets: $30.00 in advance online or in person at Paper Umbrella (2724 13th Avenue), or $35.00 at the door *Advance tickets close at 5:00 PM day-of-show. About The Deep Dark Woods: Originally from Saskatchewan and now based in Southern Ontario, The Deep Dark Woods take up a deep tradition of forlorn storytelling, drawing lines from Celtic folksongs to country blues, John Fahey to Shirley Collins. Lush and devastating, Boldt’s gothic surrealism is stark in detail and full of emotion, a murder balladeer for our time. One might be tempted to think of the Deep Dark Woods as a band steeped in capital-T tradition, and that may be true, but now nearly two decades into their life as one of Canada’s finest folk-roots ensembles, that tradition is one of their own invention. The voice of founding member Ryan Boldt sits at the forefront of the band, and it doesn’t take long to reveal that he is a master of subtlety and shading, working in the lineage of iconic singers like Bob Dylan, Bert Jansch, Rick Danko, and Jason Molina. Boldt, a relentless lifelong listener of music, says “It’s all I do. When I’m not playing music, I’m listening to it, trying to find songs that make me feel an aching pain in my chest.” Accordingly, his singing is full of highly emotive nuance and an elegant, relaxed precision that makes it seem downright effortless, a perfect vehicle for the band’s particular brand of updated folk music. Fellow travellers like keyboard whiz Geoff Hilhorst, veteran drummer Mike Silverman, and Evan Cheadle round out the Deep Dark Woods unit, and they are often assisted by like-minded collaborators such as singer-songwriter Ellen Froese, Erik Nielsen, Leon Power, and the acclaimed duo Kacy & Clayton. This crew creates a powerful combination and has amassed a pile of celebrated albums, EPs, and a host of nominations from music awards outfits from across the country. Together they recall classic units like The Band, mid-period Wilco, and American Beauty-era Grateful Dead, but also legendary late ’60s UK groups like Fairport Convention, Pentangle, and Steeleye Span. About The North Sound: The North Sound is an award-winning roots-Americana group based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, led by Blackfoot singer-songwriter/multi instrumentalist Forrest Eaglespeaker and vocalist Nevada Eaglespeaker. Blending elements of Americana, folk-rock, and alt-country, the group crafts songs that speak to lived experience, exploring themes of belonging, perseverance, and the search for connection with sincerity and heart. Whether performing as an intimate duo or a full five-piece band, The North Sound invites audiences into an experience that feels both personal and universal. Their music is grounded in the power of storytelling, offering moments of reflection, healing, and joy. Forrest’s compelling voice and stage presence are matched by Nevada’s emotive harmonies, creating a performance that leaves a lasting impression and fosters a genuine sense of community. Since forming in 2014, The North Sound has become a compelling force in the Canadian music scene. Their live shows are soulful, honest, and impactful—perfect for soft-seat theatres, folk/roots festivals, and community-driven events.

About Richard Inman: Road-weary, dusty and worn down from thousands of miles, hundreds of shows a year, from Canada to Denmark, Germany and back, Richard Inman is an authentic story telling troubadour. Playing for thousands at festivals or dozens in a smoke filled back road bar in rural Saskatchewan, Inman's honesty has connected him to a devoted cult following and cemented his place as a Canadian songwriting giant. About Kayla Luky: Singer-songwriter Kayla Luky lives in Grandview, Manitoba, a small farming community nestled between the Riding and Duck Mountains. This unique setting gives her sound absolute authenticity. Too country for country and too country for folk, her songs are soaked in alcohol, dirt and sorrow, honouring the roots of real country music.

We reserve the right to remove any patron creating an unsafe environment. The accessible entrance is available via a lift, Please ask staff for help if necessary. About Field Guide: Over the past five years, Field Guide has quietly built a reputation as one of Canada’s most compelling new songwriters. With a sound that blends folk intimacy, indie production, and timeless pop sensibilities, he’s taken his music from a Winnipeg basement to international stages and festivals. After his 2019 debut Full Time, Field Guide broke out with the 2020 EP You Were, whose title track found a wide audience thanks to early Spotify support. Subsequent projects showcased his range: collaborations with Toronto indie-darling Georgia Harmer, debut full-length Make Peace With That, and a full reimagining of Coldplay’s Parachutes featuring Lizzy McAlpine, Begonia, and Dizzy. His 2022 self-titled LP, co-produced with longtime collaborator Kris Ulrich, was recorded during one of Manitoba’s coldest winters on record and later mixed by Daniel James Goodwin (Bonny Light Horseman, Goose), the record led to an 18-city European tour supporting Penny & Sparrow, followed by Field Guide’s first North American headline run with sold-out stops at Mohawk in Austin and The Basement in Nashville. Festival highlights include Winnipeg Folk Festival, Mariposa, Treefort, Mile of Music, SXSW and The Great Escape. He has also spent much time on the road as support for artists including Bahamas, SYML, Wild Rivers, and Leif Vollebekk. 2024’s Rootin for Ya pushed his sound further — solitary late night recording of woozy synths and drum machines paired with completely live-off-the-floor tracks. After completing his sophomore 30 date North American tour in 2024, and an 18 date US tour supporting Austin’s Penny & Sparrow in April 2025, Field Guide is now in the final stages of completing his forthcoming LP— a body of work that he’s never felt more proud of — the record is set to release in 2026.

Join us at the Artesian on Friday, June 26th to celebrate the release of Ellen Froese's new album 'Solitary Songs'! Show Details:Ellen Froese 'Solitary Songs' Album Release Show with Special Guest Theresa SokyrkaDate: Friday, June 26th, 2026Doors: 7:00PMShow: 8:00PMTickets: $28.00 in advance online or in person at Paper Umbrella (2724 13th Avenue), or $33.00 at the door *Advance tickets close at 5:00 PM day-of-show. About Ellen Froese: Saskatoon songsmith Ellen Froese’s latest record, Solitary Songs (out May 6th on Victory Pool Music), finds her meditating on a strange chapter of her life. “It’s been a weird year—lots of life changes, maybe some ego-death,” she says. Between an ADHD diagnosis and cutting back on some vices, her perspective—as a musician, a lover, a human being—has changed. The follow up to 2022’s For Each Flower Growing (produced with the Sheepdogs’ Sam Corbett), Solitary Songs showcases Froese singing songs that sound like dusted-off country classics with wry, down-to-earth lyricism. One moment, Froese is confessing, ‘I’m scared of getting old / But more than that, I’m scared of living without your love’; the next, she’s reeling from a false-start fling, ‘stray cattin’ along’ with a freshly purchased ‘strawberry watermelon turbo-powered vape’. There are no sacred cows in Froese’s world, with blunt humour meeting heartache while the band plays on. Friendship is at the heart of Solitary Songs, which sounds like how it was made: a big hangout with friends, trying to make one another smile. Recorded at RecHall studios in Saskatoon, Solitary Songs was created through jubilant, off-the-cuff collaboration, with the band riffing arrangements while Froese penned new verses in the control room. At this point in her career, with 4 full-length albums and many international tours under her belt, Solitary Songs showcases Froese digging for the feeling of “just making music for the joy of it, like when I was a kid.” And as far as quitting the dopamine rush and finding self-acceptance goes? “I guess the journey up to wellness has peaks and valleys, but it does start to level out,” Froese muses. Indeed, Solitary Songs sees Froese’ flirting with self-acceptance while figuring things out; trying to be “happy in the confidence of a solitary song,” and getting your friends on board for some cheeky country-folk tunes. And nobody does those quite like Ellen Froese. About Theresa Sokyrka: One of Canada’s most pure and honest voices with the soul of a joyful Ukrainian Baba and the chops of Karen Carpenter, Sokyrka has paved a unique career for herself the last 25 years. The multifaceted musician, singer songwriter and Reality TV 2004 Canadian Idol runner up, has independently sold over 100,000 records, securing Gold status on her first album which also garnered a Juno nomination for Pop Album of the Year. She has had two videos featured in MuchMoreMusic Top Ten. She has released 5 studio albums including an album of Ukrainian folk songs in 2010. Armed with a random trident of life experiences she continues to hone her craft. In the last 5 years she has released several cover songs with Jesse Brown that have collectively earned over 12 million streams. Sokyrka spends her time reading about mushrooms and watching birds mostly alone but there is no denying Sokyrka continues to meaningfully address an array of raw emotions with her voice and activism, connecting deeply with her ancestral matriarchal folk healing lineage through music. She is a musical force that will always emerge from the bush when she is needed.

About Roman Clarke: Roman Clarke has self-produced and released 3 full length albums, 2 EP’s, and a handful of singles over the course of his highly explorative career as a musician, while writing, performing, and engineering most of them himself. Each album has built stylistically into the next, but remains rooted in hard hitting, piano driven funk. Roman specializes in poignant, but funny lyrics on topics from love to money to the music business, paired with devastating grooves and soaring stacks of vocal harmonies. His high energy, unapologetically expressive music has earned him a die-hard cult following in his hometown of Winnipeg and across Canada. The live show is eye catching and exciting - he fronts an often large outfit from behind a drum set at the front of the stage. While contributing to his ever-growing catalogue, Roman has spent most of his career out of the spotlight, as a near-constantly touring drummer, prolific songwriter, producer, recording engineer, mixer and essential collaborator to dozens of artists. About Lexy Desjarlais: Lexy Desjarlais is excited to return to the stage for another amazing showcase at The Artesian after a short hiatus spent writing new music and exploring the next evolution of her sound. Through new songs inspired by love, heartbreak, and loss, she invites listeners into a deeply personal journey. Joining her are some members of her band who have been by her side since the very beginning over ten years ago. With a soulful voice and a unique sound, Lexy delivers a performance you won’t want to miss.

We're excited to welcome Bobby Bazini back to the Artesian stage as he marks his bold new chapter in French-language music, sharing songs from the new album 'Seul au cinéma'. Show Details:Bobby BaziniDate: Tuesday, May 26th, 2026Doors: 6:30PMShow: 7:30PMTickets: $33.00 in advance online or in person at Paper Umbrella (2724 13th Avenue), or $43.00 at the door. *Advance tickets close at 5:00 PM day-of-show. We reserve the right to remove any patron creating an unsafe environment. The accessible entrance is available via a lift, Please ask staff for help if necessary. Neuf salles. Neuf chansons. Neuf films racontant une quête d’identité, celle de Bobby, à travers la solitude.-----The concept for Seul au cinéma came to him during the Pearl tour. While playing a show in Saint-Eustache, Bobby found himself performing in a venue that was part of a movie theatre complex. That afternoon, after soundcheck, the venue manager offered him free rein to roam the cinemas. He made himself a bucket of popcorn and wandered from screening room to screening room, coming and going freely — sometimes staying for just a few minutes, sometimes longer. There were no signs outside the doors, so he never knew what he was walking into: a horror film, a romantic comedy, a popular Quebec feature. The experience stayed with him. It felt like drifting through fragments of stories, like hopping from one dream to another, never seeing how any of them ended:Seul au cinéma — Alone at the Movies. Nine rooms. Nine songs. Nine films telling a story of identity, Bobby’s story, through solitude.
