In these classes we will consider our attention as a resource that allows us a finer and more sensitive awareness of our bodies, and from which we can explore the different systems and structures of our anatomy, awakening greater presence and awareness in our physicalities&hellip; what we feel becomes present. We will explore how refining our attention can establish a dialogue between physical sensations and relational perception. In the constant dialogue between internal and external perception, perhaps the distinction between them can begin to dissolve. From this basis we will enter into movement, the encounter with space, and bodies as spaces of dance. Inhabiting ourselves, we will allow ourselves to be danced by the encounter. We will see dance and contact as a river of information that enters and leaves our bodies, connecting us with the planet and its inherent forces.Dancer, producer, and Craniosacral therapist. He has been teaching Contact Improvisation since 2013, and has produced workshops on this practice since 2014, including La Manzana de Paxton, the annual international CI festival on the coast of Oaxaca, Mexico, where he lives. Jonathan has shared his work on Contact Improvisation, Somatics, and Craniosacral Therapy at universities, festivals, and independent venues around the world: Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, the United States, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Turkey. In this class, we will explore techniques that allow us to refine our internal listening of our bodies, our relationship with space, and our interactions with others.We will work on weight transfer at different levels.Exploring the roles of leader and follower, developing sensitive listening skills to be open to change and to clearly communicate our intentions through our bodies.Finally, we will utilize the principle of &quot;shared axis&quot; and how, by meeting at a midpoint, our bodies can create a shared axis and support, allowing us to move together and develop a moment of dance. In this workshop, will explore different layers and systems of the body, such as skin, muscles, tissues/fascia, and bones. We will develop our ability to perceive these systems using our attention, and through movement. Continuing these explorations through touch, we will discover the varied qualities of sensation and perception that can unfold with different qualities of touch.Eventually this research will take us into dancing, where we will discover how each system can offer us specific qualities to work with, which will allow us to expand our range of possibilities and explore new paths in our movement and improvising. In this workshop, will explore different layers and systems of the body, such as skin, muscles, tissues/fascia, and bones. We will develop our ability to perceive these systems using our attention, and through movement. Continuing these explorations through touch, we will discover the varied qualities of sensation and perception that can unfold with different qualities of touch.Eventually this research will take us into dancing, where we will discover how each system can offer us specific qualities to work with, which will allow us to expand our range of possibilities and explore new paths in our movement and improvising. In the constant dialogue between internal and external perception, perhaps the distinction between them can begin to dissolve.
