The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee&nbsp;is a hilarious and heartfelt musical comedy following six quirky spellers competing for the championship of a lifetime. As they tackle increasingly difficult (and sometimes questionable) words, they reveal personal stories that are equal parts funny, awkward, and unexpectedly moving. With a Tony Award-winning book by Rachel Sheinkin and a vibrant score by William Finn, this fast-paced show celebrates individuality, ambition, and the pressure to get it right. Singin' Out Loud feat. Richard Rockhard Fundraising Concert

For those who believe music deserves to be heard and not talked over. Featured Artist: Reagan Mae Kuzyk (Singer-Songwriter) Reagan Mae Kuzyk is a singer-songwriter originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She currently serves as Vice-President and Director of Community Engagement at Ekko. She teaches voice and piano, as well as both the Ekko Kids Choir and the Out Loud Choir. Outside of Ekko, she is also the frontwoman of Halifax based alt-rock band Montgomery Night. She has been writing songs for more than two decades, &nbsp;combining real life experiences and music, resulting in powerful and meaningful lyrics that are relatable and poignant. As a songwriter, she strives to connect with others and be transparent about the reality of trauma, healing, love, and accountability. Spend an evening listening to the stories behind the songs and learn how and why they came to be.&nbsp; About the Listening RoomIn a world where live music is often treated as background noise, the&nbsp;Ekko Listening Room Concert Series&nbsp;offers something different. Listening Room Concert Series: Reagan Mae Kuzyk

Featured Artist: Adam LeBlanc (Fiddle) Adam LeBlanc has been playing fiddle and violin for over two decades, blending classical training with a deep love of traditional fiddle music. Originally from southeastern New Brunswick, he performs music from across the Atlantic fiddle traditions, including Old-Time Canadian, Acadian, Scottish, Irish, American, and Breton styles. Adam has competed at the&nbsp;Canadian Grand Masters Fiddling Championship&nbsp;and has performed throughout Atlantic Canada, including appearances with&nbsp;Neptune Theatre,&nbsp;Broadway Atlantic, and festivals such as&nbsp;Boxwood&nbsp;and the&nbsp;Maritime Fiddle Festival. He is also the founder of Ekko, where he continues to share the joy of music through performance, education, and community. Adam will be accompanied by Reagan Mae Kuzyk on Piano. To our Ekko Fam, Neighbours, and Fellow Arts Supporters; We&rsquo;re reaching out with humility today because Ekko needs some help from our community. Since becoming a non-profit in April 2025, Ekko Performing Arts Society has been working to build something meaningful in the heart of Downtown Dartmouth: a place where people of all ages, backgrounds, abilities, and experience levels can learn, create, perform, and be part of a community. We&rsquo;ve aimed to keep things accessible and affordable for everyone to partake in one of the many programs here at Ekko. Today, more than 250 people participate at Ekko through private lessons, choirs, classes, community groups, workshops, performances, and other programs. Through support from our community, we&#39;ve been able to:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Create an Access tier for students to attend lessons at a more accessible rate that is currently helping 15% of students.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Invest over $12,500 of funds into subsidized lessons since April 2025.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Reduce costs for attendees by over $2,000 at this summer&#39;s musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, by offering Pay-What-You-Can (PWYC) options.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Ensure at least 10% of tickets for public concerts and events are PWYC.</li></ul>These are just a few of the highlights of the impact we&rsquo;ve been making.&nbsp; It is now with humility and optimism that we turn to our community for support as our operations, despite everything mentioned above, are in jeopardy.&nbsp; Over the past several months, we have been faced with a number of significant and unexpected expenses, such as higher than anticipated costs for electricity during the winter months in our new building, an annual increase in property taxes for 2026 of 30%, as well as an increase in general operating costs.Additionally, as a new non-profit, access to traditional grant funding continues to be a challenge for us. Many funding programs require a non-profit to operate for three or more years, meaning Ekko simply does not yet qualify despite our previous years as a social enterprise. Like many non-profit organizations, we&rsquo;ve also faced a number of barriers when it comes to restricted visibility within the community, the Nova Scotian Arts cuts, as well as not qualifying for the municipality&rsquo;s property tax break for non-profit organizations (we lease not own our building). We are hoping to raise $25,000 in donations, sponsorships, funding, and community support before December 31st, 2026. If you are in a position to support us financially, we would be incredibly grateful. If donating is not possible right now, sharing this message with your friends, family, workplace, or wider community can also help us reach someone who may be able to support our work.
