FAN is an arts-based charity dedicated to supporting emerging filmmakers and the art of storytelling. We focus on creating educational opportunities, connection to the industry and providing platforms for student filmmakers to showcase their work. 

Register for your FREE tickets for the 2026 Eye2Eye Showcase,&nbsp;a one-day public celebration of emerging high school and post-secondary filmmakers from our community. 🎬 Bringing young creators together with audiences and industry professionals, the Eye2Eye Showcase offers a full day of film, learning, and connection, including: 9:30 AM High School Finalist Screenings &amp; AwardsWatch shortlisted films by local high school students, followed by an awards presentation celebrating their creativity and achievements. 11:00 AM Screenwriter MasterclassLauren Greenwood is coming home! A graduate of CCI (class of 2002) with 15 years&#39; experience as a working screenwriter, Lauren will provide valuable insight into the screenwriting process and how emerging filmmakers can start their careers in the film &amp; television industry. 12:00 PM Filmmaker Meet &amp; GreetA relaxed, curated lunchtime opportunity for registered student filmmakers to connect with industry guests. We believe film is one of the most powerful and accessible ways to share ideas and experiences &mdash; and that helping young people tell their stories strengthens our whole community. Founded in 2020, FAN is a volunteer-driven organization connecting students, educators, industry professionals, and audiences through film programs and events. Our focus is simple: remove barriers and create real opportunities for young and local creators &mdash; especially at a time when arts access in schools continues to decline.&nbsp; After a strategic review in 2025, we refocused our efforts where they have the greatest impact: hands-on youth filmmaking and early-stage career support. As film viewing habits shift away from theatres and toward digital platforms, we&rsquo;re putting more energy into education, mentorship, and strong public platforms for emerging voices.&nbsp; First Takes&nbsp;&mdash; a free filmmaking program for Northumberland County high school students. Delivered with schools and industry volunteers, it gives students real-world experience through script and production seminars, hands-on filming workshops, and career pathway guidance. Students don&rsquo;t just learn &mdash; they create.&nbsp; The Eye2Eye Showcase&nbsp;&mdash; a free, one-day public event celebrating high school and post-secondary filmmakers. It features finalist film screenings, juried awards, mentorship and education prizes, networking with industry guests, and a featured film with a live Q&amp;A. It connects young creators directly with audiences and professionals.&nbsp; Why this matters: Early support is one of the biggest missing pieces for emerging filmmakers. Our programs build practical skills, confidence, collaboration, and creative literacy. They amplify diverse voices, create pathways into post-secondary education and creative careers, and bring the community together through shared cultural experiences.&nbsp; Since 2021, FAN has presented festivals, showcases, filmmaker talks, pop-up screenings, and youth workshops, supported by volunteers, educators, and working film professionals. Our projects have included partnerships across the arts sector and grant support, including from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
