Watch as our area&rsquo;s fastest pups compete to be crowned the Wiener (yup, we said Wiener!).</div><div fr-original-style="width:100%;line-height:1.5;box-sizing:inherit;" style="width:100%;line-height:1.5;box-sizing:inherit;">If you have a wiener dog (or a wiener dog mix no taller than 11&rdquo; tall from foot to shoulder), sign up now for the chance for your pup to compete for fastest Wiener in the Kootenays and have a shot at the coveted golden wiener trophy. For a $20 donation, your pup is guaranteed one race, a whole lot of love from the crowd, and a shot at eternal glory. We have space for 18 brave and ambitious doggos.</div>

Why should I care about TNR? Are you ever woken up in the middle of the night by yeowling cats? Had property or gardens damaged? If so, there's a good chance you've already been impacted by the feral cat population in our region. In addition, each unspayed female feral/stray female cat can produce 20 or more babies every year. If there are 10 unspayed females in a community (and believe us, there are many more than that), within a year the community could see 200 new kittens born into the very tough and short life of a feral. During the peak TNR season, our team faces significant financial challenges as we strive to manage the feral cat population responsibly. Every cat we trap, neuter, and return helps prevent the exponential growth of homeless cats, but the costs are substantial. In past years, we have received vouchers to cover the spay and neuter costs but have no indication that they will be available to us this year. The cost of spaying or neutering a cat adds up quickly. With no financial return on our investment (these cats typically can not be put up for adoption) our resources are stretched thin during the TNR season. Your support can make all the difference. Our goal for 2025 is to TNR 150 cats. Our fundraising goal would cover the spay of 37 females and the neuter of 37 males (approximately half of our goal 150).  This does not include traps, containment units to keep the cats as they recover, food, litter, gas for our volunteers who drive out of town to humanely trap the cats, or any additional medical costs. We count on community support to be able to continue to do the work we do..
