World Refugee Day 2026 - Sharing stories and raise awareness about rare cancers in displaced communities 🎗️. World Refugee Day (June 20) is a day to honor the resilience, courage, and lived experiences of refugees&mdash;people who have been forced to leave home and rebuild life in new places. Refugees are not a single story. We carry grief and survival, culture and memory, loss and possibility. And we deserve safety, dignity, community, and joy&mdash;especially those of us navigating displacement alongside anti-Blackness, transphobia, homophobia, and racism. This World Refugee Day, RARICAnow is organizing a community gathering to honor our people through speakers, Cultural food, connection, and community care. We are creating space to witness our stories, celebrate our strength, and remind each other: we are still here&mdash;and we belong. Come as you are. Come to be held. Come to honor queer refugees in our community. By registering, you help RARICANOW highlight real experiences, strengthen support networks, and expand access to reliable education and advocacy. Theme: Equipping Our Future The EWAKA Community Conference is a transformative gathering &nbsp;forETHNOCULTURAL&nbsp;2SLGBTIQA+ communities and allies&nbsp;taking place in Amiskwac&icirc;w&acirc;skahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑲᐧᒋᐋᐧᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ), Treaty 6 Territory, Edmonton, Alberta, on November 20 and 21, 2026. EWAKA creates a&nbsp;brave-safe, affirming, and culturally grounded space for 2SLGBTIQ+ communities and allies to exchange knowledge, share stories, and empower the community. Rooted in an ethnocultural, decolonized, and holistic approach, EWAKA reflects the interconnectedness of cultures, histories, and peoples. It draws on ancestral practices that affirm the inherent worth, resilience, and self‑determination of Black and racialized 2SLGBTQIA+ communities, encouraging participants to value and accept one another fully across identities, experiences, and backgrounds. This year&rsquo;s theme is &ldquo;Equipping Our Future.&rdquo;&nbsp;Through intentional programming, cultural celebration, and inclusive engagement, the EWAKA Community Conference brings together diverse voices to build skills, strengthen intercultural relationships, and foster solidarity across communities. The conference advances intercultural understanding, supports the wellbeing of racialized 2SLGBTIQ+ communities, and contributes to a more connected, equitable, and culturally vibrant society.
