It was theatrically released later that year. It has gone on to become a cult classic, despite its controversial use of violence, profanity and problematic language. &nbsp;This low-budget movie launched the career of the critically and commercially successful writer-director Quentin Tarantino. It also ushered in a new era of independent filmmaking and helped bring the technique of non-linear storytelling to a much wider audience. It should also be noted that the film features a cast of seven men. There are only two women who appear (fleetingly) in the movie.
