Sikh Heritage Manitoba Inc. preserves and promotes the rich history and contributions of Sikh Canadians, fostering understanding and appreciation through education, exhibitions, and community engagement, while honoring their legacy of resilience and service.

Stories of Sikh Army Veterans and Winnipeg&rsquo;s Hidden History For over a century, these stories have lived in the background &ndash; unseen, unheard, and often forgotten. A Sikh Century of Service, presented by Sikh Heritage Manitoba in partnership with the Sikh Heritage Museum of Canada and Bhai Kahan Singh Nabha Foundation, brings them into the light. Through rare artefacts, archival records, and personal histories, the exhibit reveals the lives of Sikh army veterans shaped by resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering service. This history is closer than many realize. Sikh men were connected to Winnipeg as early as 1916 &ndash; building lives and choosing to serve while facing discrimination and barriers that kept families apart. These are not distant stories. They are part of Winnipeg. Part of Canada. Part of us. Step in. Learn. Reflect. Honour. Join us for the official launch of the exhibition, featuring a keynote address by Dr. Emma Alexander (University of Winnipeg), offering reflections on history, memory, and the significance of these stories today.&nbsp; The program will also include performances by students from Amber Trails Community School.

Join us for the Chardi Kala Ardaas to launch Sikh Heritage Month Manitoba.An ardaas for the chardi kala, togetherness, and for the well being of all Manitobans, as we officially recognize the launch of Sikh Heritage Month.&nbsp; Note: Please bring your government ID and arrive by 11:30 am The Legislative Building requires us to share the RSVP List 24 hours in advance of the event. If you have not RSVP&rsquo;d and choose to arrive at the venue we cannot guarantee admission as the Security services will make the final call.*Please note each guest will need to register separately.
