St. Margaret's Bay Pride (Rural Communities Foundation Of Nova Scotia)

LXCL:St. Margaret's Bay Pride is a volunteer-run community organization working to increase 2SLGBTQIA+ visibility and allyship in St. Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia.

Be guided through a series of reflective writing exercises and archive your queer experiences as moments of healing and resistance in this workshop run by Dr. Christina Flemming of St. FX.&nbsp; Queer storytelling opens space for personal and collective healing. Queer stories also function as sites of political resistance by insisting on presence, rather than silence. This workshop will guide participants through a series of reflective writing exercises, imagining three pivotal moments related to their own queer identities, then zooming in and creating the beginnings of a more in-depth snippet of your story, and finally, sharing with the group! In this session, we are not attempting to capture memories, but to make them even more expansive! Dr. Christina Flemming is Assistant Professor in Adult Education at St. Francis Xavier University. Dr. Flemming&rsquo;s research is inspired by the notion of love as inquiry, and based on her intersecting identities as a queer woman, educator, and mother to a non-verbal daughter on the autism spectrum. A lifelong writer, Christina currently facilitates graduate courses focused on critical pedagogies, arts informed research and methodologies, and social justice. &nbsp;
