Chinook Fund Dinner

The Chinook Fund proudly presents The Lavender Lounge. Join us on Thursday, August 27 at Heritage Park for an unforgettable evening celebrating the rich history of queer voices, resilience, and expression. The evening begins with a scenic cruise aboard the historic S.S. Moyie on the Glenmore Reservoir, followed by an intimate cabaret performance at the charming Wainwright Hotel. Step back nearly a century to the vibrant nightlife of Prohibition-era New York, where gender expression flourished and the city's legendary Queer Bars became gathering places for groundbreaking drag performers, singers, comedians, and entertainers. Against all odds, these artists created spaces of joy, courage, and community, leaving a legacy that continues to inspire queer culture today. Hosted by award winning drag comedienne and entertainer, Lilith Fair, The Lavender Lounge draws inspiration from this remarkable chapter of LGBTQ+ history through music, storytelling, humour, and cabaret. Accompanied by Daniel Belland on piano, the evening also features special guest performances by drag legend Argentina Hailey, burlesque performer Basel Blu, and celebrated acrobat Master Gerardo. Featuring excerpts from "The Pansy Cabaret" as researched and directed by award-winning playwright and queer historian Darrin Hagen, The Lavender Lounge celebrates the resilience, creativity, and fearless self-expression that helped shape the path to Pride. Join us for an evening of music, laughter, and celebration as we honour the trailblazers who dared to be seen, paving the way for generations to come Here are the details for the event:

Park at, or ride right to, the Wainwright Hotel at Heritage Park starting at 6:00.

Step aboard the SS Moyie for a 60-minute tour around the Glenmore Reservoir along with the Lavender Lounge performers at 6:30.

Return to the Wainwright for the Lavender Lounge from 8:00 to 9:00.

Note: both the Wainwright and the Moyie are fully accessible.

Expect an evening of queer performance, community, and connection at the Chinook Fund Lavender Lounge.
