Join us for an inspiring evening as we celebrate the launch of our new exhibition, The Thunder Bay Art Society Presents: The Heritage Art Project at The Thunder Bay Museum. This event is free and in-person only.&nbsp;Exhibit Opening -&nbsp;The Thunder Bay Art Society Presents: The Heritage Art Project&nbsp;Built heritage is a shared history- growing up next to them, going past them on our commute, or seeing them for the first time as a visitor or newcomer to the city. These buildings offer a shared history of place and community.&nbsp;In their first official group exhibition, the Thunder Bay Arts Society aims to spotlight heritage buildings across the city to showcase our shared history through art and history. Learn how the Neebing Valley Conservation Authority evolved into the LRCA as we know it today, and how we will be evolving further into the future. From flood forecasting, water level monitoring and development regulations to land stewardship, environmental education, and, of course, recreation at our ten Conservation Areas, we will discuss the core roles and responsibilities of the Conservation Authority as well as the other programs we undertake for the enhancement and protection of our local natural resources. Presenter Bio:Ryan Mackett has been the Communications Manager for the LRCA since 2011. Ryan&rsquo;s role at the Authority includes corporate communications, all graphic design, marketing and brand identity functions, special events planning, social media oversight, and the administration of the LRCA&rsquo;s outdoor environmental education program, among many other duties. Ryan was born and raised in Thunder Bay and is a lifelong resident. He is a graduate of Lakehead University with an Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education. Ryan is also an artist, writer, photographer, and graphic designer. Free Public Lecture - Ryan Mackett – Conservation in the Lakehead – A History of the LRCA

The Thunder Bay Museum is once again offering exclusive Behind The Scenes Tours on select dates for Culture Days 2026. This is your chance to glimpse the collection hidden away within the Museum which is not normally accessible to the public. - Tour will last 45 minutes and there will be limited opportunities to sit and rest - Guided by Museum staff through the collections and archives - Preregistration is required and admission is by donation upon arrival for your tour - 2 tour times offered on tour days at 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM - Some areas on the tour are not fully wheelchair accessible MUST PREREGISTER , space is limited. Haunted Halls 2026

Trick-or-Treat PD Day Camp at the Museum Join us for a spook-tacular PA Day adventure at the museum! While school&#39;s out, campers will dive into a day of Halloween-themed fun and creativity, all centred around our &quot;Trick-or-Treat&quot; theme. Kids will get hands-on, carving their very own pumpkins (with careful adult supervision, of course!), designing fun and festive Halloween-inspired art projects, and exploring the museum&#39;s galleries with a spooky twist. Whether they&#39;re painting ghosts, crafting paper bats, or decorating treat bags for trick-or-treating, there&#39;s something to spark every young artist&#39;s imagination. Costumes optional but encouraged!Camp is for kids aged 8 to 13.Drop-off time starts at 8:45, and pick-up is at 4 pm.&nbsp; Camp Highlights:<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Pumpkin carving and decorating</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Halloween-themed arts &amp; crafts</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Guided museum exploration with a Halloween twist</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Treat bag decorating</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Fun group activities and games</li></ul>Perfect for a PA Day off school, this camp blends creativity, hands-on crafting, and museum exploration into one memorable, festive day.&nbsp; Frequently asked questions Am I to send a lunch with my child? Yes, please send a nut-free lunch and two snacks/drinks with your child. There will be no access to a refrigerator, so please pack accordingly. The Museum has water fountains, so sending your child with a refillable water bottle is advisable. What should my child wear? Your child can wear whatever they like, even a costume! We love seeing our campers embrace the theme of the day. However, kids should wear things they don&#39;t mind getting messy or possibly getting paint on. How many children are in each program? Programs are limited to 12 children.&nbsp; The Museum reserves the right to cancel programs due to under-registration.&nbsp;In this case, all existing registrants will be notified, and a full refund will be issued. What if I have to cancel my registration?&nbsp; No refunds will be given for cancellations made less than one week in advance. A credit for a future program may be given to participants who cancel three days (full 72 hours) before the program start time. No credit will be given to &ldquo;no shows&rdquo; or to cancellations with less than 72 hours&rsquo; notice. What if my child has special needs? If your child has any special needs, details must be included with your registration form. Please note that staff are not trained to work with special needs or medical support. However, if your child requires an adult assistant, they are welcome to accompany the child to camp free of charge. Who will be supervising my child? The Education Department&rsquo;s great staff and volunteers are trained, experienced individuals who have submitted current Criminal Background Checks and are certified in Standard First Aid and CPR. The minimum ratio of supervisors to participants is 1:7. Am I required to send my child with any materials from home? For this camp, absolutely nothing!&nbsp;

Their 2026 installation at the CoLab Gallery replicated the creek&rsquo;s flow while playing with scale, fluidity, transparencies and layers, surface materials, mark-making elements, and the elusiveness of naturally coloured inks made from materials they gathered from the urban waterway. Presenter Bio:Julie Cosgrove is a Francophone visual artist working predominantly in painting. She&#39;s exhibited internationally and nationally and is the recipient of numerous awards. Her experiences as a canoe and kayak guide in the James Bay watershed are a central influence. Julie&rsquo;s affinity with the subtle shifts in travelling with the land are integrated into exploring abstraction and weaving ideas of landscape, mapping, and navigation. Her large-scale compositions consider place and space through composition, colour, line, layering and depth. As an artist, collaborator, educator, juror, and board member, she&rsquo;s contributed to many arts organizations. Betty&nbsp;Carpick grew up in far northern Manitoba. The interdisciplinary and intergenerational ways that she makes art and offers stewardship are shaped by her Cree and Eastern European upbringing. Her family&rsquo;s lived experience with the permanent devastation of the Churchill River watershed amplifies how she uses art to hold conversations. As a land-based artist, educator, activist, and community-arts practitioner, much of her work looks at social, cultural, and environmental issues by creating art that exists in the space between process and performance as well as the missing portions between the real and the imagined. His interest in the Great Lakes started with the book Paddle-to-the-Sea in Grade 1 and continued with his time on Lake Superior from the harbour at Silver Islet. Todd&rsquo;s passion for all things maritime, including shipping, lighthouses, and shipwrecks, was undoubtedly a catalyst for his post-retirement work as a Historian and Lecturer for Viking cruise ships on both the Great Lakes and around the world. He is currently a sessional/contract lecturer teaching American and Canadian history at Lakehead University. Brandon holds a PhD from McMaster University, in the Wilson Institute for Canadian History, and an MA from Lakehead University. Brandon&rsquo;s research focuses on Canada, modernity, and the nuclear age. His other research interests include industry, development, the environment, and Northern Ontario. He has authored several articles and conference papers that explore the history of hydroelectricity, nuclear power, and nuclear waste, as well as its impact on communities in Northwestern Ontario.
