Gayathri Venkataraghavan, known for her &ldquo;incessantly flowing extempore&rdquo;, presents unique rāgas from the Carnatic tradition, each revealing distinctive pathways of melody and emotion. Blessed with a sublime voice that fluidly traverses across octaves, Gayathri possesses an uncanny ability to deliver complex ideas and dwell in creativity with complete ease. She belongs to the lineage tradition of Vidwan Sri A. Sundharesan and Padma Bhushan awardee Sri P. S. Narayanaswamy. Gayathri&rsquo;s ensemble comprises seasoned violinist Mysore Srikanth and the acclaimed&nbsp;N. C. Bharadwaj on mridangam, both &ldquo;A&rdquo;-graded artists of All India Radio and highly respected names on the Carnatic stage.<br style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; box-sizing: inherit;" id="isPasted" fr-original-style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;"><br style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; box-sizing: inherit;" fr-original-style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;">This concert is part of our Baithak Series, a thematic initiative that explores esoteric aspects of Indian classical music in an engaging and accessible way. Baithaks - traditional chamber concerts - create an intimate connection between artist and audience through smaller venues with floor and chair seating. Each Baithak Series event concludes with a brief artist Q&amp;A, offering listeners the chance to reflect on and deepen their understanding of the evening&rsquo;s theme. We carry over the same theme from our last Baithak Series recital earlier this season in an effort to explore all of what a rāga is and can be, from both Hindustani and Carnatic dimensions.&nbsp;<br style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; box-sizing: inherit;" fr-original-style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;"><br style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial; box-sizing: inherit;" fr-original-style="color: rgb(51, 51, 51); font-family: Cardo; font-size: 17.25px; font-style: normal; font-variant-ligatures: normal; font-variant-caps: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; orphans: 2; text-align: left; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; widows: 2; word-spacing: 0px; -webkit-text-stroke-width: 0px; white-space: normal; background-color: rgb(255, 255, 255); text-decoration-thickness: initial; text-decoration-style: initial; text-decoration-color: initial;">This program is co-presented by the Indian Classical Music Society of Vancouver&nbsp;and Time Will Tell Arts Society, with generous funding from Vancouver Foundation&#39;s LEVEL BIPOC Grant.

Interweave Ensemble Nine musicians. Distinct traditions. Infinite possibilities. Interweave Ensemble brings together nine extraordinary musicians whose artistic roots span Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Indigenous Turtle Island. Drawing upon the depth of repertoire, knowledge, and experience each musician brings, Interweave creates a space where distinct musical traditions meet on equal terms. Rather than requiring artists to compromise their musical identities or conform to a common musical system, the ensemble celebrates their unique strengths through traditional repertoire, original compositions, and collective improvisation. Brought together by percussionist and composer Curtis Andrews (Turtle Island/Canada), the ensemble features Feven Kidane (trumpet, bass &ndash; Ethiopia), Russell Wallace (voice, percussion &ndash; Lil&#39;wat Nation/Turtle Island), Kocasalle Dioubate (kora, percussion, voice &ndash; Guinea), Kurai Mubaiwa (mbira, voice, percussion &ndash; Zimbabwe), Israel &ldquo;Toto&rdquo; Berriel (percussion, voice &ndash; Cuba), Zhongxi Wu (sheng, suona &ndash; China), Marjan Alekhamis (kamancheh &ndash; Iran), and Shruti Ramani (voice &ndash; India). Experience what becomes possible when extraordinary musical voices come together without boundaries. Get your tickets now for what is sure to be an unforgettable evening of musical discovery.
