1UP Office Tour: Metrolinx Ontario Line

1UP Leaders Lab is a two day leadership training program that prepares high school students from the GTA, Kitchener-Waterloo, and Hamilton with the knowledge, resources, and mentorship needed to become a 1UP Fellow and start a successful 1UP School Chapter! When and Where1UP Leaders Lab will be taking place on Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th from 10AM - 5PM on both days, at Perkins & Will's Toronto studio located at 110 Yonge Street 12th Floor, M5C 1T4. Being located in downtown Toronto, you will be reimbursed for public transportation travel to the venue, and will be offered free overnight accommodations if you reside at least 50km away from Toronto Union Station. 1UP Toronto is a youth conference that brings together secondary school students across Ontario to celebrate and incubate city-building ideas. The 2024 conference theme is Thrive: Planning The Year-Round City which is a dialogue between youth and city builders about how indoor and outdoor public spaces could bring joy/ happiness to everyone all year round. We will explore how to design and plan for improving the collective wellbeing of citizens, both young and old. Hosted by Urban Minds, the conference will take place on Saturday, March 23 & Sunday, March 24. About the TourJoin Northcrest Developments, kg&a, and Urban Minds for an eye-opening tour of the <a href="https://www.northcrestdev.ca/" target="_blank">Downsview Airport Lands</a>! Learn about the team's unique approach to transforming 370 acres of largely undeveloped lands in the heart of Toronto.  This will also be the site of the Design Jam at Urban Minds' upcoming <a href="https://www.1uptoronto.org/conference2024.html">1UP Toronto Conference</a>. The 1UP Toronto Conference is a free event for all high school students in Ontario, where students get to learn more about city building and compete to win prizes! While we won't be revealing the details of the Design Jam 🤫, this tour offers an excellent opportunity for our conference attendees to know more about the planning process of redeveloping the airport. Refreshments will be provided. After the site tour, you're invited to stay for the <a href="https://www.eventbrite.ca/e/hangar-skate-tickets-750936058967" target="_blank">Hangar Skate</a>, hosted by Northcrest.
