Vision Zero Vancouver

Vision Zero Vancouver aims to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries through advocacy, education, and collaboration with local governments. They focus on creating safer streets for all by addressing road safety issues and promoting evidence-based solutions.

Let&#39;s give the Kent Ave &#39;greenway&#39; some love! Kent is one of our city&#39;s most neglected greenways and while the city does have some upgrades planned, it could use some basic cleanup in the meantime. We&#39;ll be picking up trash, sweeping debris, and documenting conditions where city support is needed.&nbsp; After the cleanup we&#39;ll head to&nbsp;Dogwood Brewing&nbsp;for a conversation about transportation options in Southeast Vancouver and priorities for city investments. This will be an informal, social gathering - think brainstorming with your neighbours, not panel presentation.&nbsp; This is a decent-weather only event. If significant rain is expected we will cancel and let you know by the night before, so please RSVP with an email you do check.&nbsp; Meeting point: E. Kent Ave South &amp; Ontario St. (the very bottom of Ontario)&nbsp;Ending point: Dogwood Brewing, 8284 Sherbrooke St.&nbsp; Total distance: Just over 2km.&nbsp; Getting here:&nbsp; Cycling - come down Ontario and then walk your bike along with the cleanup crew from our meeting point to Dogwood. From there you can ride back to Ontario, go up Inverness, load your bike on a bus for the big hill or whatever you prefer. Transit - our meeting point is a 10 minute walk from the #3 bus stop at Marine Drive and Ontario, or a 20 minute walk from the Marine Drive Canada Line station.&nbsp;Car - there is plenty of nearby street parking in the area.

Kent Ave Cleanup & Brewery Social

Join&nbsp;<a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.bikelaneuprising.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Bike Lane Uprising</a>&nbsp;and Vision Zero Vancouver for a community gathering focused on safer streets and cycling.&nbsp; The good people at Bike Lane Uprising are working to make cycling safer by making it easy to report bike lane obstructions, and tracking trends in the data to highlight problem locations and hold violators accountable. Started in Chicago, the app is now used in cities throughout North America, and&nbsp;<a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.bikelaneuprising.com/chicago-insights" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">insights</a> from their maps have been used to advocate for real changes.&nbsp; We&#39;ll hear a presentation from Bike Lane Uprising, have time for some Q&amp;A, and then folks can stick around and mingle into the evening. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from R&amp;B.&nbsp; Getting Here &amp; Accessibility:&nbsp;R&amp;B provides bike parking immediately outside the brewery. Nearby transit includes bus routes #3 and #84, with the #99 and Main St-Science World Skytrain stations also a short walk away.&nbsp; R&amp;B is a ground floor establishment with one step required to enter. We&#39;ll be in the back room, and speakers will use a mic.&nbsp;

Vision Zero Vancouver is excited to be hosting Sarah Goodyear and Doug Gordon, co-authors, on their book tour this fall. The event will be a celebration of the book specifically, but also the creative futures we can build for a transportation system where nobody dies on our roads. We are also excited to feature a live conversation with Vancouver City Councillor Lucy Maloney! Doors open at 6:30pm for mingling and merch sales. The conversation will begin at 7:00pm.
