The John Martin Memorial Scholarship was established to honor a truly gentle man with a big personality who cared about people and sharing his love for the natural world with others. Sadly, John passed away after a short battle with pancreatic cancer on September 10, 2017 at the age of 69. His unwavering support and encouragement of his daughter (Walkabout’s founder Jennifer Semach), inspired a memorial scholarship created in his honor.

Operation: Hay Storm 2026 helps keep our therapy horses healthy, happy, and well-fed throughout the winter months. As temperatures drop, hay becomes essential to their daily care, and our herd goes through approximately five bales every single day.Every dollar donated goes directly toward purchasing hay, ensuring our incredible therapy horses have the nourishment they need to continue their important work.
