Mayday's headquarters to provide care, support and love

General campaign

Mission Paws United launched

Mission Mayday is a Montreal-based non-profit organization that was founded in January 2022 to prevent euthanasia for animals suffering from abuse and requiring medical care. We do not hesitate to spend large amounts of money to save dogs and cats without families. The majority of our passengers come from seizures by the authorities, animal services, shelters, and surrenders in veterinary clinics.

Since our main activities are managed by volunteers and our animals are placed with foster families, we spend a lot of money on basic care in clinics, food, various accessories, and transportation. Distributing resources and managing material donations is extremely complicated because we have foster families all over the Greater Montreal area.

Having premises in Greater Montreal will open many doors, and make it easier for us to manage, reduce our expenses and be able to launch a new support program for low-income families! Thankfully, our application was successful, and we have been approved to occupy a newly renovated building in Beauharnois, which can be fitted out to meet our needs. To make this happen, however, your valuable support will make ALL the difference!

Main use of the premises for the population

We will be able to help animal owners in need. We are planning to open a food bank for low-income families because we often receive food that we do not need. We will also be able to lend trap cages to community members and organize microchipping and nail clipping days at a low cost.

Services such as dog training and grooming will also be available to help families look after their pets and prevent them from being abandoned. We use up-to-date methods based on positive reinforcement that respect each animal and its limits. Together, we can help animals and their owners!

How will this help us with our animals?

Having a physical location will allow us to set up an examination room to have our animals assessed, vaccinated, dewormed, and microchipped. It would be much cheaper in the long run, and we would call on veterinarians to come and assess our passengers. A section will also be available for trimming claws and grooming.

These premises will enable us to store accessories and food in one place, making it easier for us to organize the distribution of our resources. We will also be able to accept more food donations and materials from companies and individuals, which is difficult for us at the moment since we have no fixed drop-off point and our warehouse is full. We also cannot store dry food there. This new space will enable us to feed more animals and, at the same time, reduce the need for individuals to purchase basic accessories such as bedding, collars, harnesses, etc.

We will be able to ensure that our passengers have their claws cut regularly and easily provide them with basic equipment. It will also be an ideal neutral place to assess dogs with behavioural issues and work with them. It would also be a great place to hold puppy classes.

When an animal must leave its foster family or be discharged from the emergency centre, this will provide a temporary solution for housing it until a suitable home can be found. It will also facilitate the intake of several animals during special missions, such as the one carried out with Chiots Nordiques in Manawan last February.

Finally, we want to develop our visibility on social networks with exclusive video and photo content. We sometimes lack good photos of certain animals, especially for fundraising, making it difficult for us to cover their medical expenses. The premises would allow us to film the team at work and to take some nice photos of the animals when they come in for appointments and other care.

Can we work together to make our small organization a benchmark in terms of support for animal owners in Greater Montreal?! Despite the glaring demand, few organizations in the field are able to help the public. Together, we can make a difference in many lives starting now!
