Join ecology educator Anna Bondartchouk (Аня Бондарчук) for a tour of the local great blue heron colony! You will learn about heron biology and monitoring, while meeting new people. We are happy to be joined by Valeria Shegai from MOSAIC BC for translation into Ukrainian.

This program will meet at the Stanley Park Nature House on Lost Lagoon (712 Lost Lagoon Path, Vancouver, BC). Please try to arrive 5 minutes in advance of the program.

Birding with Me is a part of the Vancouver Bird Celebration and organized collaboratively by Stanley Park Ecology Society and various partners from the Pacific Birds Habitat Joint Venture, including the Canadian Wildlife Service and Birds Canada.

About Your Bird Guide

Hi, my name is Anna (Аня) and I work as a program coordinator for Stanley Park Ecology Society. I studied ecology in university, and am really passionate about teaching others why they should also care about local nature and enjoy it in their own style. I grew up in Canada in a Russian/Ukrainian family and community, and my culture has influenced how I enjoy being in nature. With the war in Ukraine hurting family and friends, leading to many people being far from their home, I want to share a few spots that I enjoy relaxing and viewing nature in the city. I speak some Russian and want to learn some more Ukrainian!

About “Birding with Me” Series

Come Birding with Me and learn about our local birds on free, guided bird walks that celebrate diversity in bird and human communities. Inspired by the National Audubon Society’s Let’s Go Birding Together series, Birding with Me walks welcome in members of different communities led by experts of shared identity to explore birding together and meet new people. Check out the Birding with Me webpage for all events.
