To commemorate the legacy of Linda McKay-Panos, the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre is pleased to host our Second Annual Forum on Human Rights and Civil Liberties. With Alberta's provincial referendum approaching, this timely forum will bring together Cori Ghitter, Alice Lam and Jatin Shory for a thoughtful discussion of the immigration-related referendum questions and their potential legal, constitutional and human rights implications. The conversation will explore questions of equality and access to public services, the rights of newcomers and temporary residents, provincial and federal jurisdiction over immigration, and the broader implications for human rights and civil liberties in Alberta. This forum is intended to create space for informed, respectful and accessible public discussion. Whether you are familiar with the issues or simply want to better understand what is being proposed, we invite you to join the conversation. Attend In Person or Online This is a hybrid event, and participants are welcome to attend either in person or virtually. Joining virtually? Select the online attendance option when registering. A link to join the event will be emailed to virtual participants before the forum. Join us to learn, ask questions, hear different perspectives and better understand the human rights and civil liberties issues raised by Alberta's referendum. We look forward to welcoming you.
