In-person Program

Led by Yousif Attia, Birds Canada staff and national citizen science program coordinator, this walk will introduce you to the birds found at Terra Nova Rural Park in Richmond. Together you will search for Anna’s Hummingbirds, Northern Harriers and if lucky, the elusive Virginia Rail.

This program will meet at the Community Garden parking lot at Terra Nova Rural Park located here. Please try to arrive at least 15 minutes in advance of the program.

Birding with Me is a part of the Vancouver Bird Celebration and organized collaboratively by Stanley Park Ecology Society and various partners from the Pacific Birds Habitat Joint Venture, including the Canadian Wildlife Service and Birds Canada.

Check out other free programs happening during the Vancouver Bird Celebration from May 13 to May 31 to get excited about birds!

About your Bird Guide

Yousif began obsessively studying wildlife at an early age, especially birds and mammals, and that eventually turned into a career as a field biologist. He currently works at Birds Canada coordinating national citizen science programs: the Christmas Bird Count and eBird in Canada. Yousif also leads birding and natural history tours for Canadian-based Eagle-Eye Tours and he is always eager to share his enthusiasm with others.

About “Birding with Me” Series

Come Birding with Me and learn about our local birds on free, guided bird walks that celebrate diversity in bird and human communities. Inspired by the National Audubon Society’s Let’s Go Birding Together series, Birding with Me walks welcome in members of different communities led by experts of shared identity to explore birding together and meet new people. Check out the Birding with Me webpage for all events.
