In March 2023, Colton was diagnosed with Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia. He had a stem cell transplant in Toronto in July 2023. In December 2023, his sister Meelah contacted Strep A. Meelah had to undergo two surgeries to remove Strep A from her hip joint. During this period, the family learned that Colton’s first transplant was unsuccessful. In February 2024, Colton and his mom flew to Toronto for more chemotherapy. Once Meelah was stable, their father flew to Toronto to join them as Colton received his second stem cell transplant.Meelah is recovering successfully. Colton is experiencing side effects from the chemotherapy and remains in Toronto as an inpatient. The community is coming together to raise funds to help the Burns Family during this challenging time. Break It Down for the Burns Family is a fundraising family dance event including a BBQ, raffles, kids activities, bake sale and more!  Donations collected via this ticket platform will be given to the family.
