You’re invited to an exciting new Santropol Roulant themed storytelling event. We have some very special guests, as well as an opportunity for you to get involved. Read on for more info:
What? Stories of the Roulant! Our headlining storytellers include Chris Godsall, co-founder of the Roulant; Frankie Traichel, current farm co-coordinator; and Ren Nilsson, author of The Southern Wall and professor in social innovation. There will also be an open-mic where you’ll have the opportunity to tell a Roulant-related story (just be sure to keep it under five minutes long!). Snacks lovingly prepared by the kitchen team will be available free of charge, too.
Why? To celebrate the memories and connections that we've fostered over our 28 years of community care, good food, agriculture, and more.
When? Thursday, September 28. Doors open at 17:00. Storytelling and snacks from 17:30-19:30 (be sure to be on time so as to not disrupt the storytelling)
Where? On the second floor of Santropol Roulant (111 rue Roy E)
Cost? Free, but RSVP via this form required as space is limited.
EVENT ACCESSIBILITY
Language: The event will be bilingual, with a mix of some stories told in French and some in English.
In-person accessibility: the Roulant building is physically accessible, with an elevator to the second floor and an accessible washroom on the main floor.
If you have any particular accessibility needs or questions, please email Clare at clare@santropolroulant.org
ABOUT THE RÉCITS DU ROULANT
Wondering what kind of story to share during the open mic? We expect donors, volunteers, clients, former and current staff, and many other friends of the Roulant to be present, and we know that you all have interesting insights into the community and stories surrounding Santropol Roulant's work. Anything that you find relevant to the Roulant in some way, goes! There are just a few simple ground rules:
The story has to be five minutes or shorter
No caricaturing or explaining a culture that isn’t your own (e.g., no fake accents or explaining the customs of a community that you don’t belong to)
If you choose to include another person’s race, orientation, physical appearance, or able-bodiedness, be sure that it is intrinsic to the story
You won’t want to miss taking in engaging stories from these close friends of the Roulant, who range from co-founder to present-day team member. Feel free to contact Clare by email or at (514) 284-9335 with any questions. We can’t wait to see you there!
Did you know? We fundraise with Zeffy to ensure 100% of your purchase goes to our mission!
