Caldwell has now inherited this book. <span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:Arial;color:#414141;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap">In the act of republishing this book, the artist hopes to bring attention to this forgotten community of women, their families, and their lived-in knowledge. <span style="font-size:10.5pt;font-family:Arial;color:#414141;background-color:transparent;font-weight:400;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre;white-space:pre-wrap">Each book comes wrapped in furoshiki, dyed using the snow around the artist's studio in Mohkinstsis, with gratitude to this Treaty 7 land that allowed the re-rooting of Japanese-Canadians who were displaced from the coast and forced to restart their lives. -- Author and Illustrator  Molly Jesse-Fujiye Caldwell is a yonsei visual artist living and working in Mohkinstsis ("Calgary, AB"). She focuses on textile processes and uses themes of healing and redemption through labour as methodology for navigating generational trauma. Her interests include Marxist feminism, equity work, and Mariah Carey.  Danielle Harumi Jette is a yonsei illustrator and graphic designer who studied at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. Since graduation, she has contributed to projects that explore and document Japanese-Canadian history; and worked with organizations such as the National Association of Japanese­Canadians, the Nikkei National Museum and Cultural Centre, as well as research and public history project Landscapes of Injustice.  -- This project is supported by the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
