“Quality of
Life” Award

 

The Quality of Life award was established in 2000
in recognition of individuals that display dedication to improving the quality
of life of those disadvantaged within our community. Your participation in our event is to celebrate
those who go above and beyond to give back where it’s most needed. Your participation will also ensure we
continue to provide services to those in need in our community. 2020 has continued to be challenging for many
women attending the centre. Now more
than ever, your assistance is necessary to help us continue to offer support services
to those in need in our community. Our Programs and services may be
running a little differently during these difficult times but the need for
fundraising remains the same. 

On November 19,
2020 the St. Joe’s Women’s Centre will be hosting their annual Quality of Life
Event.&nbsp; This year we going Virtual!!
&nbsp;&nbsp;We have many good citizens in Ottawa
and the Quality of Life Awards takes the time to recognize just a few who stand
out as major supporters of our community.&nbsp;
We are honored to recognize two distinguished groups, whose
contributions within our community have made a significant difference, in
improving the Quality of Life for those less fortunate.

Join us at 5:30 P.M. via Zoom for an
evening of networking and recognition of two organizations for their
contributions to our community.

ABOUT ST. JOE’S WOMEN’S CENTRE

In the
beginning of the pandemic, St. Joe’s Women’s Centre, although closed, continued
to support our participants and community. &nbsp;In office supportive counselling sessions
became online sessions, phone call check in’s, email and social media support. &nbsp;Our Food Cupboard, Hygiene Program, Baby
Supplies &amp; Pet Food Program may have been halted but we ensured these items
were donated to initiatives who had the capacity to deliver to our participants
and those most vulnerable. In emergency situations, staff delivered essential
to those in need. For those that are alone and isolated, a friendly face and
wave is unmeasurable.

On May
21st we opened our doors for pick up services of food and other essentials. &nbsp;Seeing the rapid number of clients in
desperate need of services, the decision was made to open Monday to Friday
starting on June 3rd. 

Our
hours of operation and services have gradually increased. &nbsp;A maximum of 6 clients can access the Centre
for one hour at a time. &nbsp;Food Bank,
hygiene products, baby/children necessities, washrooms, showers, phone calls,
supportive counselling and to-go lunch and beverages are offered. &nbsp;These services are being offered under the
guidelines of the City of Ottawa and Ottawa Public Health, all while practicing
social distancing and with use of PPE.
